When you receive a โCivilian Downโ message you are required to:
Step One
To locate a specific point of interest, you may want to access your map and search for a dynamic red pulsing signal. This will help guide you towards your intended destination with greater precision and efficiency.
Step Two
To communicate your response to a new emergency call, you can use your radio and make a traffic call, stating your identification as "E-##." Next, indicate that you are "responding" to the emergency and specify your response status by using the appropriate code, which could be "10-97 Code 1," "10-97 Code 2," or "10-97 Code 3." Finally, mention the location of the emergency by providing the relevant postal code, such as "at Postal ####." This way, you can clearly convey crucial information to your colleagues and coordinate your efforts to handle the situation effectively.
Step Three
When responding to an emergency call in your EMS vehicle, it's important to prioritize safety and urgency. Make sure to use your lights and sirens to signal that you are on a Code 3 response, unless the nature of the call permits a less urgent Code 1 or Code 2 response.
Remember to follow traffic rules and regulations, but also be aware of your surroundings and drive defensively. This will help ensure a timely and safe arrival at the scene of the emergency.
Additionally, it's important to communicate with your dispatch to gather any critical information or updates about the situation, as well as to provide status updates on your response. By staying informed and alert, you can optimize your response and provide the necessary care to those in need.
Step Four
Even though all EMS Personal are permitted to drive over the speed limit you should still follow traffic rules, At all times you must be driving on the correct side of the road to lower the risk of getting into a motor vehicle collision. When coming to a Red traffic light or intersections, corners or when near other vehicles you mush slow down and make sure that it is clear before proceeding.
